The Shuttlecraft is a personal transportation vehicle owned by Samantha (The Cat). Like the Passenger Transportation Pods, the shuttlecraft moves similarly and is used to quickly traverse the many cars of the Infinity Train.

Design[]

The shuttlecraft is a spherical glass pod with gold colored baroque decorative designs all around it. The inside has control panels and velvet red cushioning that stays parallel to the ground at all times while traveling. A large blue 4 hole button is usually found below the red velvet and is paired with a golden 4 petal flower thing shaped like a birdie (shuttlecock). The shuttlecock like feature has a round blue ball at it's base that looks very similar to an orb found in a car's programing.

Function[]

Like the transpods, this personal shuttlecraft requires blue electricity to drive. However, instead of hovering it scrapes the surface of the train car and leaps when it has to go over the gap of a gangway. The shuttlecraft relies on it's shuttlecock feature to use such energy. Before traveling The Cat needs to press a button to crank the shuttlecock from its position at the bottom to the top front of the vehicle to aim at the top of the train's body. The shuttlecock feature opens its 4 petals when launched and lands on the blue ball part. Once the shuttlecock lands the large 4 hole button glows neon blue and follows the shuttlecock. The giant button and the shuttlecock meet up on travel thus connecting the two parts.

Trivia[]

  • The shuttlecraft looks very similar to the design of Simon's Number Tracker. This implies that they have met up before the events of Book Three.
  • The shuttlecraft was designed by Sam Spina. The only stipulation was that it was ornate and too small for Tulip.[1]
  • The Cat is voiced by Kate Mulgrew, best known for her performance as Captain Kathryn Janeway of the USS Voyager on Star Trek: Voyager, a show that has been openly cited by Owen Dennis as a major inspiration for the series. The specific use of "shuttlecraft" to refer to the Cat's vehicle could serve as a reference to Mulgrew's role.
