Overview

"The Castle Car" is the 9th episode of Season 4 of Infinity Train and the 39th episode overall. It aired on April 15, 2021.

Synopsis[]

Ryan and Min finally meet Kez’s roommate.

Plot[]

As it turns out, Kez's roommate Morgan is the castle, while the man in the photo Kez showed Ryan and Min-Gi is a former passenger named Jeremy. As it turns out, Kez has brought Ryan and Min-Gi to Morgan to replace Jeremy: Morgan is upset at Kez for causing him to leave the train. Morgan forces Ryan and Min-Gi into Jeremy's former room and throws his former belongings at them. The pair point out Kez refuses to think about how others will react to her actions and runs away without ever apologizing for her wrongdoings. Ryan makes Kez leave.

The pair wonder what happened to Jeremy and how Kez was involved. Reading Jeremy's diary, they learn he was on the train for five years, and that several other passengers also lived with him, Kez, and Morgan, only to get their exits over the years, which took their toll on Morgan. In his last entry, Jeremy alluded to Kez saying something that alarmed him. Ryan and Min-Gi question Kez, who admits she and Jeremy had a conversation about a car crash he was in, which he survived but his mother and sister were killed. Kez had told him that it wasn't his fault and that he was emotionally still at the moment of the car crash: his realization that he was simply running away from the accident caused his number to go to zero and he ended up getting sent back home, which greatly upset Morgan.

Min-Gi and Ryan point out that Kez wasn't wrong for helping Jeremy since that is what is supposed to happen on the train. Just as they tell her she needs to get better at taking responsibility for her actions, the train begins to shudder. A Steward comes crashing into the castle, apparently controlled by Amelia, who awkwardly declares that passengers on the train are now on their own, before removing Ryan and Min-Gi's boots. The Steward flies out of the castle and explodes in the night, while Ryan and Min-Gi's numbers reset, only to once again settle at 202. Frustrated that nothing has changed, Ryan wanders off into another part of the castle despite Min-Gi's pleas for him to stay.

Trivia[]

  • In Jeremy's journal, Morgan is drawn in her original design.

Continuity[]

  • Owen Dennis confirmed that at the time Ryan and Min-Gi boarded the train, there were multiple Stewards, whereas it is widely believed by the events of Book One, there was only one left. This episode offers a possible explanation as to why.
  • The reason for Amelia's control over the Steward is most likely connected to the events of the unproduced Book Five.
