Overview

"The Art Gallery Car" is the 7th episode of Season 4 of Infinity Train and the 37th episode overall. It aired on April 15, 2021.

Synopsis[]

The gang needs to escape from a haunted art museum.

Plot[]

The group enter the Art Gallery Car in high spirits. As they take in the surroundings, they try and understand what the point of the car is, ignoring a sign warning them to "Mind the Docent." Strange shadows begin to appear on the walls as Min-Gi and Ryan suddenly begin to act hostile towards one another as their numbers go back up to 202. Kez attempts to act as a go between the two of them, but they equally begin to voice their frustrations as shadowy arms appear to engulf them. Min-Gi is upset that Ryan went away without thinking of him while Ryan accuses Min-Gi of being a shut in with no future. Kez tries to bring them together as Ryan examines a piece of art that turns out to be the door. He and Kez fall through, but leave Min-Gi behind as a monster called the Docent, the source of the shadows, appears and attacks Min-Gi. Ryan desperately tries to get back into the car to help, declaring that he will never leave Min-Gi behind. All of a sudden, his number reaches 0 and the portal home opens. But when Ryan considers taking it, his number goes back up to 115, closing the portal. Min-Gi finally manages to find the exit and upon escaping accuses Ryan of leaving him again.

Trivia[]

  • Ridge Irvine, the artist behind Lion Tamer is a reference to digital production assistant Ridge Hirano and professional wrestler Chris Jericho whose last name is Irvine.[1]
  • In a way, the art showcased in the rooms that Min and Ryan visit are fitting for their character. While both rooms have similar paintings they each have their own different style, themes, and way of expression.
    • The room Min stays in has Futurism, Fauvism, and Gothic styled paintings with pillars holding up the space. Two notable paintings are a parody of American Gothic and Futurist Composition.
    • The room Ryan visits has Suprematism, Expressionism, and De Stijl styled paintings with abstract clay and ceramic art. Two paintings seem to be inspired by Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian or Kazimir Malevich.
  • End tag: Ryan and Min in the Art Gallery Car, as a shadow ominously covers the background and the sound of the Docent plays.

Continuity[]

  • Ryan sings Lion Tamer by Ridge Irvine in the first few minutes of the episode. In "The Twin Tapes" teen Ryan wears a t-shirt with the song name on it.
  • There is a portrait painting of a stuffed rabbit that looks like Khaki Bottoms and a surrealist painting of a Steward facing a passenger in the room Ryan visits.
  • After Kez kisses Ryan on the cheek, he remarks, "Her kisses are warm," referencing Min-Gi's reaction to Kez kissing him in "The Astro Queue Car."

Error[]

  • The train is moving in the scene where Min steps out of the Art Gallery Car. The train stopped when Ryan's exit appeared and should not have started moving until after Min says the last line of this episode.
