Background[]

Prior to working on Infinity Train, Howell-Baptiste was friends with Lindsay Katai and Justin Michael through the Upright Citizens Brigade in LA, the latter from being on the same improv team.[1] The crew met her at one of the group's performances, and were so impressed with her humor that they asked her to try out for the role of Grace.[2][3]

Infinity Train[]

In an interview with Comicbook, Baptiste said she was delighted to play a character on the path of redemption and excited to be part of a show targeted towards children but didn't talk down to them. At the time of production the fun part for Baptiste was not knowing where Grace's arc would lead. Baptiste describes Grace as going through a nature/nurture battle, trying to live on the train her own way until a certain someone comes into her life and changes her perspective.[4]

Trivia[]

  • Grace's habit of doing lip trills while getting ready to do something is taken directly from Howell-Baptiste, who performed the same action while warming up in the recording booth.
  • Grace's mother is British partly as a way of explaining some of the British accent mannerisms that remain in Howell-Baptiste's voice for Grace.[1]
